6 kittens:  1 orange; 2 gray/white striped tabbies; 1 black and white; 2 black face with gray backs.  The 2 black ones are not solid black -- they have silvery gray coats and black faces, very pretty!  Very cute, affectionate, sweet.

Meet Allie and her two kittens Marty (tabby) & Bessie (gray&white).  These poor babies were living in North Philly in a rat infested alleyway.  Poor Allie had 5 litters before SWRO was able to save her.  They are all looking for a home, is that home yours?  If so, contact us today!
Cameo
Very very sweet, young Camden kitty and her 4 babies.  Looks like 2 orange, 1 black, 1 calico.  Not even a week old.   Cameo was living on the streets of Camden, probably dumped.  She was pregnant, and is now living in  a temporary foster home.  She, along with her babies are all looking for homes one the babies are weaned.

This is a courtesy post, not a SWRO rescue kitty.  Meet Crookshanks, a stray kitty that befriended our household in August.  Crookshanks is very friendly and nice.   Crookshanks is approximately 5 years old and has alredy been neutered.  I took him to the vet where they updated his vaccines and tested him for leukemia/fiv which he was negative for.  He must have had a home at one point, because he is very clean and looks well cared for.  He is very friendly and would make a great pet for children or senior citizens.  He is located in Philadelphia, PA, but I would be willing to drive him where he needs to go.

Last night in the bitter cold, a friendly cat from a feral colony was brought inside to safety.  He is a friendly young gray male about 6-9 months old.  Sadly, he tested positive for feline leukemia.  The vet said he has no signs of illness.  He had some blood in his stool, but that is from his roundworms, and the doctor will treat that problem. All the foster homes available have houseful of fosters cats and no place to isolate him from the other cats.  He is going to be caged for now-but I know that is no way for a cat to live-especially one that may not be adopted very quickly.  I am asking you because this cat surely deserves a home to call his own as he is so affectionate.  If you know of any foster placement for this guy, or anyone who can help, please forward this around.  He will be neutered, vaccinated and receive any vet care before he would go anywhere.  Please help me, help him.

Hi, my name is "Happy", however, I am not so happy right now. My current owner is moving in 10 days and she can't bring me with her. So unless I find a home within 10 days, I'll be headed off to a no-kill shelter. Because unfortunately at this time SWRO is at their capacity and can't take in another kitty cat at this time. I'm very sad because the shelters are always at their capacity and are forced to euthanize animals to make room for the constant surrenders. Please help me! I don't have much time. Darlling Dale
Meet Darlling Dale -- a little 5 week old female calico with white paws and chest and tear drop eyes, waiting for her own home!  She would LOVE to go in a home with one of her brothers Roy or Roger or both;-), but can go alone.  She is very sweet and affectionate and ready to play at any given moment!  She is fully vetted-spayed, vaccinated and mommy was tested negative for FIV & leukemia.
Timber and Tundra
are three year old brothers born in August of 2004.  They have NEVER been separated so it is mandatory that these two stay together as they love each other very much.   Neither of them have ever been outside before, they are strictly indoor kitty-cats.  They are both neutered.  They are not declawed and are used to having their claws clipped regularly.  They are almost identical in appearance with white fur and tan markings.  They have gorgeous baby blue eyes, but you can't really tell from the pictures.   They have both been updated on all their vaccines, including being tested for Leukemia and FIV which both came up negative.  Although they are very similar looking, their personalities are very different.   Timber is a little bigger than his brother and is an absolute sweetheart.  He loves having his belly rubbed and is typically quiet unless he really wants your attention.   He loves to cuddle and will sleep right alongside you at night.  Tundra is the noisier one of the two…commonly meowing whenever he wants a treat or just to be held and petted.   He also is a big cuddler and will be on your lap whenever he can squeeze his way in.  They love playing with each other and can keep themselves occupied with each others company.   When adopting a cat, it is always a good idea to adopt two.  The reason is when you are away from home at work or on vacation etc.... they will have each other to keep them company and won't become as lonely as they would if they were the only cat.   Timber & Tundra LOVE treats and toys, so spoiling is a must for these two handsome guys!  Neither of them have ever been around other animals, so I'm unsure how they would react, but since they're such friendly, good natured cats, they may be able to adjust after a little while.   I need to find a good, safe home for my two precious babies,  as my living arrangements have changed.   I am heartbroken that I have to give them up, so I want to make sure they are adopted into a new wonderful home.  If necessary I could do a temporary trial to see how they like their new home.   I have a litter box, water bowl and food dish with a few of their favorite toys that would come with them.
Troube
This is a courtesy post, not a SWRO rescue kitty.   Meet Trouble, a stray cat (I think she's from someone's home, she will let you pet her and is very affectionate) living on my porch - I have been feeding her and even made her a little crate to sleep in (but she prefers my porch furniture). Would you be interested in giving a wonderful cat a new home?  I can't  - I'm severely allergic (that's why she's not in my house).  She refused to go in the crate I made her too and I'm terrified she'll freeze to death this winter.  She is located in Bronx, NY (Throggs Neck section, right off a major highway), But I am willing to transport her where she needs to go in order to get her off the street and into a good home.  We named her Trouble :-) she's black with gold eyes.
Tom
This is a courtesy post, not a SWRO rescue kitty. Meet Tom, he is 3 years old, four paws de-claw, neutered, male who desperately needs a good home where he will never be put outside again. Poor tom was dumped out of a car on a busy street in Morrisville. I took Tom home to live with me and my 3 other cats but Tom felt threatened, and didn't play well with others. After a month I had to give him to a rescue lady where he is in a cage in her basement. Tom would make a perfect pet, he can't ruin furniture and is all caught up on his shots, and is neutered, and a  real love.  Tom loves to play, and when he sleeps, he really sleeps. I would give just about anything to get him back, but it isn't fair to have my other 3 scared of him.  Please if you can help me find a good, loving, caring person to adopt Tom, my heart would be filled to the brim with gratitude.  Tom is located in Philadelphia, PA but he can be driven where he needs to go.
Toby
is by far, one of the most lovable, affectionate lap cats that I ever did meet.  He loves to be picked up and held like a baby, where he'll just lay in your arms for hours if it were up to him.  Poor Mr. Toby was left alone and abandoned in the vet clinic's waiting room.  Such a shame, but luckily for him it was going to be a new beginning for him since the founder of SWRO and the owner of the veterinary hospital agreed that we will work together to find Toby a forever home.  Afterall, this boy surely deserves it as he has lots of love to give.  Out of all the kitties that SWRO has helped, none have pulled our heart strings as much as Toby.  We feel that way because he is such a one of a kind, unique kitty cat.  He's a cat, but yet he's almost human-baby-dog like.  He of course purrs non-stop like a cat, he absolutely loves to be petted and will do anything to keep you rubbing his favorite spot like a dog and also, he loves to be cradled and held in your arms like a little human baby.  He is so darn cute, I could just squeeze his cute little tom-cat cheeks.  His nickname is now "Sweet-Cheeks"!  Sadly though, Toby is FIV positive and unfortunately for him, not many people understand the disease and jump to many conclusions shunning cats with FIV.  Please give Toby a chance at a forever home and adopt him today.  I assure you, you will fall in love with this handsome devil's purrsonality.  Come see for yourself- set up a time to meet Toby.

was found as a stray in Northeast Philadelphia wandering the street.  The neighbors said that her owners moved away and put her out on the street to fend for herself.  Natasha is just so darn sweet and such a lap cat.  How could anyone do this to her.  Worst part, they didn't even haver her spayed.  Natasha rode back to New Jersey very calmly in my lap without blinking an eye.  She was almost dog like looking out the window.  Natasha has been spayed, leukemia/aids tested negative, vaccinated, and wormed.  Please make an appointment to come and meet her for yourself.

Meet cute & adorable Wilhelmina! She was found in Philly where she was following a little girl. The little girl brought her home to her Dad in hopes of keeping her. Unfortunatley, the Dad said no because they have 2 other cats at home. Once again, a Saved Whiskers volunteer was in the right place at the right time. Wilhelmina is scheduled to be spayed, vaccinated and leukemia/aids tested.
Midge
Poor little Midge was found in an elderly couples yard with her mom. She was severely dehydrated and slowly dying. Thank god a volunteer from Saved Whiskers was in the right place at the right time as Midge has been rescued. Sadly, Midge's mom slipped out of the volunteers hand and ran away. (don't worry though, we are going back to trap her mom). The elderly couple told our volunteer that Midge's mom was crying for her all day and night- so sad for us to hear. Midge is just 5 weeks old and won't be ready to go until a couple more weeks when she can be spayed, vaccinated and tested for leukemia/aids.

Meet Momme, she is "Midge's" (see Midge on our website) MoM.  We finally were able to get her with the help of the older couple that she is so familiar with.  She's been living in their backyard for quite some time.  Momme is very friendly, young and petite.  She was quite nervous on the car ride from Philly to Jersey, but seemed alot more comfortable once placed in a comfy cage with a big bowl of wet food, a bed and all her other essentials.  Now for the reunion with Midge.  Midge is going to be so very happy to see her MoM again;-)  Momme is scheduled to be spayed, tested and vaccinated and once she recovers will be ready for her new home.

Elvis
Hi, my name is Elvis. I was a starving neighborhood stray. I was found eating bread put out for the birds and not doing to well fending for myself out on the street. That was when my foster mom brought me indoors. She took me to the vet to be neutered and unfortunately, I tested positive for leukemia. Thankfully, the right person found me and is willing to give me a chance, unlike. Most kitties with leukemia are euthanized right away because the leukemia virus is highly contagious to other cats, but not people or other animals. I am a real affectionate kitty that loves to be petted and loved. I even like to be put on my back and to have my belly rubbed and love to receive tons of kisses. I am looking for a home with a person who either doesn't have any other cats at the time or someone who has other leukemia positive kitties where I can live my life out in happiness. is no more than a year old, domestic short hair (white & silver tabby mixed), very friendly and loves attention. She is litter box trained and has a healthy appetite. Maxi
Hi, my name is "Maxi".  I was found hiding in some bushes that I didn't want to leave until someone started talking to me and gettting closer.  That's when I took off across the street at MAXIMUM speed, which is how I came to be known as Maxi.  Anyway, it appears I have been dumped and the reason my rescuers believe this, is because I have a collar on with no name tag or microchip and was in an office complex where there aren't many homes close by.  I am scheduled to be spayed and vaccinated.  I have already had Advantage applied for fleas, I was wormed and tested negative for leukemia/aids.  If you are interested in adopting me, please contact Saved Whiskers today!
Maya
Poor little Maya was abandoned on the street of Philadelphia when her neighbor decided to move.  She asked the owner of the horse stable if she could live there, only it is unheated and the doors are always open.  So poor Maya was wandering all around the streets of downtown.  Not too safe for a young little kitty who only knew how to be a housecat previously.  Maya is a really nice cat.  Her purrs can be heard from another room.  She loves to be petted over her back and will arch her back so you get the right spot.  Maya has already been spayed by her owner (thank god!!!) and vaccinated for rabies & distemper and has tested negative for leukemia/aids.  Please contact us today and fill out our online adoption application if you are interested in adopting Maya.

Omar
has diabetes that needs insulin injections twice a day. His owner can no longer properly care for him and desperately needs to find him a good home. He is 5.5 years old and is a very lovable cat. He is social with other cats but does not have exposure to dogs. He loves to get attention, even from children, He absolutely loves everyone! He is a beautiful cat and his owner had him since he was 3 weeks old. His owner is fearful that if she cannot find him a suitable home very soon that she will need to have him put down. I showed up at a neighbors door and she fed me right away, only I wasn't interested in the food even though I was starving, I was more interested in getting some lovin from the neighbor lady. a beautiful German Shepherd was found outside a church in the cold, blistery snow trying her best to get any church goer's attention.  After many attempts, she finally won the attention of a kind woman.  The woman, without even giving a second thought picked Dezi up, and put her in her car.  This is not something she normally does, but Dezi was insistent and clearly needing medical attention.  Dezi has since been brought to the vet and is being treated for a wound on her leg.  Dezi is a very sweet and gentle dog, loves to give kisses and she likes to romp around the room.  Her foster mom took Dezi as well as her own dog to the park and let them both off the leash to run around. She didn't go far and didn't fuss when it was time to head back home. She walks very well on the leash. Dezi is malnourished and needs to be fattened up. Aerielle & Jasmine
Aerielle & Jasmine's current owners are looking for a new home for them. They are about to have a new baby and are looking for placement ASAP. Here are their stories:
Jasmine (Black/White) just turned 12yrs old in August and gets brochial asthma attackes if she is around plaster dust (treated with steriods when needed but has not had an attack in a few years.
Aerielle (Grey/White) will be 8yrs old in January and takes no medications; her vomiting was deemed "something some cats do" by the vet. It does not matter what she eats (prescription foods or purina cat chow), she will vomit. However, just recently we were told to buy elevated food dishes which is known to stop the vomiting.
Dezie
Female; She is so funny. Shy until she knows you then very playful. Sweetie pie. Loves to play and all the attentions she can get... Loves kids.
Levi
Meet Levi!  Handsome little man that he is!  He was found in Philadelphia at the founder's parent's home.  He would hang at their back sliding glass door for hours making friends with their kitty Xander. Levi is very friendly, just a tad bit shy at first.  He has been neutered, vaccinated, leukemia/aids tested, wormed for parasites and also had advantage applied in case he had fleas.  Levi is staying with the founder of Saved Whiskers Rescue until a forever home can be found for him.  If that home is yours, please contact us today!
Ms. Gray Paws
is around 7 weeks old. Just rescued and will soon be spayed, tested for leukemia/aids and give her first series of vaccines. She has a very sweet purrsonality.
Wuzzy
is looking for a forever home. Her owner has developed allergies and can no longer keep her. Wuzzy is very affectionate and would do best in a house without other pets as they seem to make very stressed. She is very sweet and in very good health. She can be timid with strangers at first, but once she becomes comfortable she loves all the attention she could get. She loves to be petted and held, loves to be brushed, and play with cat toys. Tessa
is a beautiful young spotted tabby (approx. 1 year old) who is looking for her forever home.  She was rescued after giving birth to a litter of kittens.  She loves to talk, and play.  Tessa has an inquisitive nature and affectionate personality.  She is initially shy – but will quickly warm up with lots of love and attention.  She is spayed, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, de-flead, and tested negative to FeLV/FIV.
Elmer
Meet Elmer. He is a gorgeous gray and white domestic short hair kitty. Elmer has a purrsonality that any owner would be delighted to know. Here is Elmer's story. It starts with Elmer following the founder's cousin while she walked home after getting off the bus. Elmer followed her all the way home, meowing, purring and jumping up to get her attention. Of course, SWRO was contacted right away and Elmer was put into foster care. It wasn't long until Elmer found (what we all believed to be) his forever home. There were nine adorable kittens in foster care with Elmer that he had to compete against (it seems evereyone wants kittens). But considering how nice of a kitty he is, there was really no competition. Elmer has such an adorable, loving purrsonality that he caught the attention of his owner. Even when she was playing with the kittens, Elmer would squeeze his way in to be noticed. Elmer was adopted, but unfortunately a little over a year later Poor Elmer lost his home because his owner had a newborn baby, and it seems he has become a little jealous. Poor little Molly's owner passed away recently. Although Molly is mourning her owners death, she is hoping to be given a second chance at finding a new loving home to call her own. Molly is friendly and affectionate feline. She is 6 years old and is a Manx Cat (Born Without a Tail). Molly has been spayed and is a healthy kitty. Ashley
(as well as her sister Lil' One also featured on this website) is looking for a new home due to her owner's fiance being very allergic to cats. Ashley is 6 years old & very healthy. Ashley uses the litterbox faithfully and is very clean. She has been declawed and is spayed. Her personality is intelligent, inquisitive, she loves to cuddle and receive petting. Ashley will sit on your lap or lay curled up next to you for long periods of time. She also enjoys staring out the window looking at all the wildlife and people going about their business. Ashley is smaller than the average cat as you can see from the photo. She eats dry cat food as well as the occasional treat of her favorite wet cat seafood. Please adopt both Ashley & Lil' One together. They just adore each other and have been together for so long already. She comes with a large littermaid electronic litterbox, a cat carrier and a cat bed.
Lil'One
is a cute and adorable 6 year young cat. She is a healthy, spayed and declawed female kitty. Both she and her sister Ashley (also featured on this website) are looking for a forever home together. She has never had an accident when it comes to the litterbox and is very clean. Lil'One is very playful but a little more shy until she gets to know you and then she is more outgoing than her sis Ashley. Lil'One enjoys being a lap cat . She enjoys looking out the window or just lounging on a chair. She doesn't care for other animals other than her sister Ashley. Lil'One acts like a dog, she will run up to the door when you come home and will play fetch with her toy mouse. She too is much smaller than the average pet as you can see from her photo. She eats dry cat food except for the occasional treat of cat wet seafood. She has never had table food and does not beg. Please give both her and her sister a forever home as they are both very sad to lose their current home with their owner due to his fiance's severe allergies to cats:-( She comes with a large littermaid electronic litterbox, a cat carrier and a cat bed.

Hi, my name is Ardsley! I was found in Philadelphia literally starving on the street. I am about 10 months young and just as lovable as can be. My foster mom believes that I was someones pet at one time, but booted out when they didn't want me anymore. Luckily, I followed the right person every day down in my old neighborhood because it happen to be the founder of SWRO's aunt (who by the way isn't a cat person, but let me cuddle on her lap when she was sitting on her step, she'd feed me too). I am a fun loving cat with lots of spunk. I have a hearty appetite since I keep thinking its my last meal. I was hoping someone wonderful like you will give me a forever home and spoil me rotten. Romeo
is such a lover boy! He loves to be rubbed and petted and snuggled with. He was rescued from an animal hoarder, along with "Juliet" and a bunch of other kitties. He is just as sweet as can be and would make any person glad to have him in their life. He is so darn funny to watch. He is so affectionate that he'll do anything just to butt heads to show his affection. He is full vetted and ready to be adopted.
Polly
is a 4 year old healthy female grey tabby who is spayed, front declawed, and up to date on vaccines (vet records available). She is extremely affectionate and playful. She has a great personality, enjoys being around people, and is a real cuddler who loves to have her belly rubbed. She can always be found sunning herself on the windowsill, chasing a pen she's knocked off the desk, or snuggled up in her latest "spot." What makes Polly extremely special and unique is that she is a Polydactyl, meaning she has an extra toe on each paw. It looks like she's wearing snowshoes!!   Polly is in search of a new home with owner(s) who do not travel often, and who are able to give her plenty of love and attention. Her current owner has been traveling very often for work which has caused Polly much stress. Polly has been an "only cat" for 2.5 years, and before that lived with two dogs. I'm not sure how she would handle a home with other cats. Polly comes complete with litterbox, travel crate, food, and toys.
Love Bug
is looking for a forever home.  Wandering the streets with Gracie (in back- already adopted).  They were hungry, skinny and exhausted.  Love Bug is just that, so very lovable.  She needs a forever home that can handle her activity level.  She is very engergetic and loves to play with other dogs.  She is unsure of cats, in fact one startled her that she went and cowered and hid.  Please adopt this loving girl today!
Mitsie is a darling 7 week old torti whose coat is a beautiful blend of charcoal with Orange and cream patches. She has a sister, Melody also pictured on the website.  Mitsie and Melody are quite the adorable duo! They are both quite playful and lovable, very active and their favorite pastime is snuggling to nap in their fleecy hammock! Both will keep you giggling for hours as they chase their toys and fake fur mice.  They would love to be adopted together! But understand if its not possible.

If you are interested in adopting one of our kitties, please fill out the adoption application online or call/e-mail us and request that one be sent to you either by mail or fax. Saved Whiskers Rescue Organization, Inc. prides itself on quality adoptions and works hard to create the perfect person/pet match. Our adoption policies are strict, but our 100% return policy requires us to make the right match from the start. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

ADOPTION PROCESS

1. Once you have chosen the cat that you would like to adopt, please take some time to fill out the required adoption application either on-line or by calling us to receive an application by mail or fax. Please answer all questions honestly. Prospective cat adopters are encouraged to visit the kitty of interest to get an idea of how they interact. We suggest you give it a day or so to think about the decision of adoption. This is a big step for both you and the kitty.

2. Once S.W.R.O. receives your application, it will be reviewed and references will be checked. It may take a couple of days from the time you complete your adoption application until your new kitty can come home. The length of time can depend on how easy it is to reach veterinary and other references. If you rent your home, we will need some evidence that cats are permitted where you live, and that there are no limitations on cat ownership that would conflict with our adoption policies.

3. Once your application is approved, we will set up an appointment either to bring the cat to your home or meet you at a convenient place to complete the adoption process. In order to complete the adoption process an adoption agreement needs to be read, agreed to and signed by the person responsible for the adopted pet and our modest adoption fee must be paid. Veterinary records are provided as part of the adoption process. You will need a cat carrier to safely transport the cat at all times.

4. If you are approved for an adoption, we will ask that you purchase the same type of food that the cat has been eating. If you wish to feed the cat a different type of food later on, you will need to transition to the new food over a 10 day period otherwise the cat may experience gastrointestinal upsets. We do recommend using a premium food for all cats and kittens-good nutrition helps maintain the cat's health, coat, and teeth over its lifetime. Premium food is especially important for preventing urinary tract infections that can cause a cat a great deal of pain and even death.

ALL CATS ADOPTED FROM S.W.R.O. COME WITH A 100% RETURN POLICY FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAT ADOPTED (we don't care if it is 5 or 10 years down the line). S.W.R.O PREFERS THAT THE CAT COME BACK TO OUR ORGANIZATION RATHER THAN ENDING UP IN A SHELTER OR FOISTED OFF ON TO SOMEONE ELSE.

The animals available for adoption from S.W.R.O. come from a variety of sources. All our animals are examined and treated by a licensed veterinarian and their health is continually monitored while under our care. Our adoption fee includes all age-approprate vaccines, examinations, deworming, feline leukemia/FIV testing, microchip and nail trims.

If necessary, treatment for fleas, ticks and ear mites will also be done. All these necessary treatments that are done would cost you much more if your vet were to do them for you. All cats wil be spayed or neutered prior to adoption unless the kitten is under 4 months of age. The adoption fee also helps to cover the expense of food and litter while the cat is in our foster care.

S.W.R.O. is a not-for-profit organization. All fees go directly towards the care of cats rescued by S.W.R.O. We thank-you for considering our organization for adoption and we will do our best to assist you in finding the right animal that is compatible with your lifestyle. Please remember that S.W.R.O. reserves the right to approve or deny any application. No animal will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead and/or fail to provide accuarate information on the adoption application.
